  • New Job Posting! - Accountant (Contract)

    Part-time, Contract, Permanent
    $40-50 an hour
    JOB SUMMARY

    Contribute to the Society’s overall success by managing all aspects of the Society’s financial operations (750K annual revenues) and ensuring management & the Board receive accurate, timely and informative financial reporting

    JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • report directly to the Executive Director
    • uphold professional relations with all funding partners, including Vancouver Coastal Health plus all levels of government
    • oversee & lead annual budgeting & planning process, working closely with the Executive Director
    • develop budgets for grant proposals
    • prepare monthly financial statements on an accrual basis & provide succinct commentary explaining variances from budgets
    • oversee transactional data, ensuring all AR/AP schedules are updated/reconciled & cash flows are sufficient to support operational requirements
    • reconcile & report prepaid rents & assist with annual tenant reviews for BC Housing
    • ensure compliance in reporting with all requirements set out by funders, sponsoring agencies & government re: HSCIS (Health Sector Compensation Information System)
    • ensure compliance with statutory requirements of charitable organizations, as well as withholding & remitting CPP, EI, Income Tax, & making remittances for WCB and GST etc.
    • liaise with and prepare year end working papers for our annual audit examination

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Professional designation (CPA) desirable; however, must have 2+ years of education towards a designation.
    • Experience with government-funded not for profit organizations
    • Proficient with Quick Books & Microsoft Office
    • Attention to detail & the bigger picture, highly organized, excellent time management skills
    • Ability to cooperate with all level employees, management, clients, & external agencies

    The candidate will maintain & role-model the philosophy & mandate of the Society in all situations when communicating with residents, co-workers & all members of the community in a non-judgmental, & approachable manner.
